This certificate is the equivalent of a minor in the German language. I took German language and grammar classes up to a CEFR B2 level, as well as German literature and culture classes. I also studied translation and translation theory for a variety of languages. As a final project, I researched and wrote a paper on "teaching" neural nets how to translate, which involved training my own neural net with English/German bilingual language data.

In addition, the core business curriculum exposed me to economics, finance, marketing, management and HR, and communications. The business capstone course required me and a team of 3 other people to run a simulated technology company, handling all aspects of R&D, HR, marketing, and finance. Our team ended the simulation with the largest market share and highest stock price. This was an excellent way to see how the different aspects of a business all interconnect and must work together in order for the larger whole to succeed.

  • Mobile App for Little Elementary

As an independent-study project, we created an Android application to assist Arlington ISD 6th-grade math education. Our team of four, under the guidance of our computer science teacher, completed every step of the design process, including brainstorming, interviewing, researching, prototyping, and presenting the app at the end of the year. The four of us were split between two class periods, so we had to come up with ways to work together as a team, despite our differing schedules.
